The Laboratory was created in 1966. The first head of the laboratory was professor V. Rosenberg (1966-1999).
The Laboratory for Medical and Technical Developments is scientific and diagnostic, treatment center for the development of new methods and technical means for the diagnosis and treatment of patients with various ophthalmopathology.
The laboratory is the basis of the scientific and methodological center of complex optical vision correction – telescopic, aniseiconic.
The main scientific direction of the laboratory is: the development of new ways to diagnose and correct complex optical, sensory and motor disorders of binocular vision and new technical means for their implementation.
Now the head of the laboratory is Volodymyr Kolomiets, DMedSc, Senior Research Officer, ophthalmologist of higher category.
The Laboratory has developed and implemented unique methods for treatment of eye diseases:
- Method of pleoptic treatment for strabismus and amblyopia of various forms;
- Method of simultaneous pleoptic and orthoptic treatment for strabismus and amblyopia of various forms;
- Method of diagnosis of binocular vision disorder;
- Method of optical correction of binocular function disorders in patients with anisometropia, aniseikonia
A set of devices is used to restore monocular functions in patients with any type of amblyopia and fixation and for pleoptoorthoptic treatment-restoration of binocular sensory and motor functions in patients with different types of amblyopia and strabismus.
