Department of Physiotherapeutic Methods of Treatment and Ultrasound Diagnostics

Activities of the department are carried out in two directions: clinical and scientific.
Scientific work:
- Studies are being carried out to create new complex drug complexes taking into account pharmacodynamic and electrolytic correspondences and ways of their introduction into the eye media (electrophoresis, amplipulse-diadinamo-phoresis, phonophoresis).
- Further study of the possibilities of the method of electrostimulation of muscle-rocker and ciliary muscle in the treatment of refractive and strabismus abnormalities is carried out in order to improve and develop new optimal modes of influence of various types of pulse currents.
- Further research on the use of induction resonance electromagnetic radiation in ophthalmology continues.
Clinical work consists in providing physiotherapeutic care to patients with a variety of eye pathologies:
- Uveitis of various etiologies (endogenous, traumatic, postoperative, burn, optic neuropathy, chorioretinitis, retinal dystrophy, including – AMD, DRP, optic atrophy, spasm of accommodation, progressive myopia, etc.
To this end, the department has developed evidence-based and implemented into practice:
- Methodoftransorbital electrophoresis of complex drug complexes and mixtures, which became fundamentally new for physiotherapy and extremely important in the treatment of severe ocular pathology, since it led to the possibility of simultaneous introduction of several drug components into the eye environment with the potential of their action. Currently, more than 50 methods of transorbital electrophoresis of drug complexes have been developed and implemented.
- Methodofphonophoresis of various pharmaceutical complexes with the creation of original devices for the treatment of eye diseases.
- Methodofmagnetotherapy of eye diseases of neurodystrophic, productive-inflammatory genesis.
- Methodofelectrical stimulation of the oculomotor and ciliary muscles for the treatment of various forms of strabismus, spasm of accommodation, “computer syndrome.”
- Simultaneoususeof several physical factors (electro-phono-phoresis, magneto-UHF therapy) is practiced, which allows to have a multilateral effect on the pathological process and obtain a more pronounced therapeutic effect.
- Ultrasounddiagnosticsis carried out in order to objectively assess the state of the ocular media.
- Methodsofphysiotherapy are an integral part of the complex treatment of patients with eye pathology, since those correctly assigned timely contribute to reducing treatment time and improving the biological and functional effect, preventing relapses of the disease, and generally faster medical and professional rehabilitation.
