Patent, Scientific and Medical Information Department

Main tasks of the department are planning, organization of scientific and information activities, formation of scientific and information resources, effective use of them. The scope of the Department includes:

Research and information support of the scientific work of the Institute;
Legal protection of intellectual property and legal compliance in this sphere;
Providing progressive forms and methods of informational work based on access to global network resources;
Information supporting the scientific research based on available bibliographic ophthalmic database;
Monitoring the preparation and presentation of scientific and medical information to the republican bodies of scientific, medical and scientific and technical information (reports about the work);

Analysis of indicators of publication activity including in publications indexed by Scopus and Web of Science Core Collection;
Maintenance of Institute’s employee profiles at Scopus, Publon, ORCID, as well as Institute’s profile as the institution in Scopus, Web of Science, RSCI;
Organization of work to raise the scientific level of scientific publications of the Institute («The Journal of Opthalmology») and their entry into scientific and abstract databases, obtaining the status of a professional publication, assigning DOI articles of publication;
Ensuring the operation, filling and updating of Institute’s sites, in particular sites of the «The Journal of Opthalmology», the Ukrainian Society of Ophthalmologists, the scientific and practical conference “Filatov Memorial Lectures”;
Organization of work on preparation, carrying out, raising the level of scientific events at the Institute. Participation in the organization and holding of international scientific and practical conferences (Filatov Memorial Lectures, Congress of Ophthalmologists of Ukraine);
Organization of work to raise the scientific level of Institute’s scientific activities and their international accreditation and information on Institute’s relevant scientific and practical activities in national and international networks, other electronic resources and media, etc.

All the research works of the Institute are attended by patent search with detecting search subject and its components, classification number according to the international classification and the country of the search. Subject search indicates: main trends in the development of science and technology, much attention is paid at disadvantages of known methods and devices, ways to achieve proposed changes are identified, medical-social and technical-economic indicators of developed technical solutions and objects of medical equipment are defined.

Patent service (patent engineer L. Moroz)·detects objects of industrial and intellectual property and obtains their legal safeguard in Ukraine and abroad.

Also patent service prepares and submits application for patents grant for inventions and registration of other industrial property rights to the Patent Office of Ukraine, prosecutes paperwork of applications.
