New Algorithm for Optical Correction of Small Astigmatism Values in Patients with Amblyopia Based on Determining Integral and Selective Meridional Visual Acuity Indices
A new algorithm for optical correction of small astigmatism values in patients with amblyopia has been developed by Dr. V.O. Kolomyets, the head of the medical-technical development laboratory and an honored inventor of Ukraine. The algorithm is based on determining integral and selective meridional visual acuity indices.

The proposed method allows for the determination of meridional nonius visual acuity indices in orthogonal retinal meridians. It helps identify optimal correction and assess the presence of meridional visual acuity asymmetry, which serves as a marker for meridional amblyopia and the need for astigmatism correction.

The new algorithm for optical correction of small astigmatism values in patients with amblyopia, based on the determination of integral and selective meridional visual acuity indices, provides the ability to diagnose meridional amblyopia in patients with astigmatism. It also allows for refining optical correction based on meridional nonius visual acuity indices.
