On the first day of his visit to Odesa on June 7, 2024, Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of the Republic of Vietnam in Ukraine, Mr. Nguyen Hong Thach, accompanied by the Honorary Consul of the Embassy, Mr. Andriy Gorchakov and the representative of the Honorary Consulate of Vietnam in Odesa, Mr. Nguyen Hung, visited the State Institution ‘The Filatov Institute of Eye Diseases and Tissue Therapy of the National Academy of Medical Sciences of Ukraine.’

Director of the Filatov Institute, DMedSc, Professor, a corresponding member of the National Academy of Medical Sciences of Ukraine Nataliya Pasyechnykova cquainted the Vietnamese delegation with institution’s history and the current achievements of its experts. During the meeting, they discussed ways of collaboration between Ukrainian and Vietnamese ophthalmologists, aiming to exchange experiences.

At the end of the meeting, a ceremony was held to honor Natalia Pasyechnykova, Director of the Filatov Institute, with the medal ‘For Sacrifice and Love for Ukraine’ awarded by the Orthodox Church of Ukraine, recognizing her significant contribution to the development of Ukrainian science. His Plenipotentiary Ambassador Nguyen Hong Thach congratulated Natalia Pasyechnykova on this high recognition.

Following the official proceedings, Ambassador Nguyen Hong Thach was shown the Filatov Institute, modern equipment in various departments and laboratories used for patient diagnosis and treatment.
