WHY DOES VISION DETERIORATE SUDDENLY?

Why can vision sometimes deteriorate suddenly even though the disease develops over years?

In a new video, Andrii Rostyslavovych Korol, MD, PhD, Professor, Deputy Director for Innovation and External Relations, Head of the Department for Studying the Biological Effects and Clinical Applications of Lasers in Ophthalmology, explains why patients often notice the problem too late: how one eye can compensate for the other, which vascular disorders may lead to sudden vision loss, and why certain conditions—such as diabetic retinopathy—can remain asymptomatic for a long time.

Special attention is given to patients with diabetes mellitus. Regular eye examinations, retinal imaging, and dynamic monitoring of changes provide an opportunity to detect pathology in time and preserve vision.

If you have been diagnosed with diabetes mellitus but have not yet undergone ophthalmic evaluation, this video is for you. Do not delay retinal and visual assessment.
