Diplopia, also known as double vision, is a condition in which a person sees two separate images of one object. This can occur for many reasons:

• Strabismus. This is a condition in which the eyes are directed in different directions. One eye may look straight ahead, while the other looks inward, outward, up or down.

• Neuromuscular disorders. Problems with the eye muscles, such as facial paralysis, can cause diplopia.

• Injuries or traumas. Traumas or injuries of the eyes can affect their movement, which can lead to diplopia.

• Blepharitis (inflammation of the eyelids). Inflammation of the eyelids and surrounding tissues can affect the function of the eyes.

• Problems with the lens or cornea. Sometimes problems with the lens or cornea can cause diplopia.

• Neurological problems. Some neurological disorders or diseases, such as migraine or certain forms of neurological infections can also affect the vision and cause diplopia.

• Other causes. There may be other causes, such as impaired blood circulation in the eye tissues, tumors in the eye area or abnormalities in the structure of the orbit.

The treatment of diplopia depends on the underlying disorder. In some cases, it may be necessary to wear special glasses or lenses, rehabilitation exercises, treatment of the underlying disease or, in some cases, surgical intervention. It is best to consult an ophthalmologist for diagnosis and treatment of diplopia, as it is a specific condition that requires an individual approach to treatment.

It is worth remembering: the earlier the treatment is started, the more chances to get a clear vision!
