The main causes of blindness and weakness in the world are primarily age-related eye diseases, such as age-related macular degeneration, cataract, diabetic retinopathy and glaucoma.
AGE-RELATED MACULAR DEGENERATION is an eye disease associated with age-related changes and leads to loss of central vision.
As a rule, at an early stage, the disease may not appear in any way. In a later period, blurring and curvature of the contours of objects appears; loss of central vision.

We need central vision for a clear vision of objects and performing everyday tasks, such as reading, driving a car, etc.
CATARACT is a clouding of the eye's lens and is the leading cause of blindness worldwide. It can occur at any age because of a variety of causes, and can be present at birth.
The first signs of cataract are:
• Weakening of color perception.
• Increased sensitivity to bright light.
• Worsening of vision at night.
• Blurred vision.
Later, the clarity of vision disappears, in neglected cases a person simply loses his vision.

DIABETIC RETINOPATHY is a common complication of diabetes mellitus. This is the leading cause of blindness among adults. It is characterized by progressive damage to small vessels (microangiopathy), which causes initially inconspicuous damage to the retina of the eye, which can lead to blindness when it progresses.
The symptoms of diabetic retinopathy are as follows:
• significant decrease of visual acuity;
• the appearance of glare and lightning in front of eyes;
• loss of visual fields;
• lamination of images;
• violation of perception of color.
Retinopathy usually affects both eyes.

GLAUCOMA is a group of diseases that can lead to damage to the optic nerve of the eye and loss of vision.
Noted symptoms:
• visual impairment at dusk;
• a feeling of blurred gaze;
• the appearance of flashing "flies," rainbow circles, mesh in front of the eyes;
• headache;
• feeling of pressure or breakage in the eyebrows area
Early diagnosis of eye diseases and timely treatment reduce the risk of vision loss; however, up to 50% of patients do not have eye examinations or are diagnosed too late to have effective treatment.
