A study was conducted on the effectiveness of the treatment of idiopathic macular hole (IRH) with the help of a modified fovea-saving technique and 20% tamponade of vitreal cavity with a gas-air mixture of SF6.
It was noted that in order to effectively close the macular hole, the fovea-saving technique for removing the internal boundary membrane (IBM) in IRH requires a longer-term gas tamponade.
