Rehabilitation Should Begin in the Hospital. Inclusion Is Not the Future. It Is the Standard the Filatov Institute Is Implementing Today.
On December 4–5, the V.P. Filatov Institute of Eye Diseases and Tissue Therapy of the NAMS of Ukraine, in cooperation with the Modern View Public Union, is hosting an important inclusive event. The event is focused on training medical staff, supporting people with visual impairments, and developing a volunteer community that works alongside them.
The project was initiated by Olesia Perepechenko, Executive Director of the Modern View Public Union, typhlopedagogue, and trainer. She has been consistently promoting accessibility and support for people with visual impairments in Ukraine. Thanks to her leadership, initiatives like this have become possible.
The event is also supported by:
- Petro Polishchuk — Accessibility Expert, Member of the Board of the Modern View Public Union, and Chief Librarian of the Rivne Regional Universal Library.
- Vladyslav Yeshchenko — Head of the We Will See Victory Charitable Foundation and an active partner in creating supportive spaces for blind veterans.
The programme includes:
- Training on spatial orientation and rules for safe guiding for people with visual impairments.
- A practical training, "Developing Guiding Skills," led by Vasyl Hoshovskyi, typhlopedagogue and orientation and mobility instructor.
- An organizational meeting with volunteers on the formation the "Blind Veterans' Space" initiative.
The Filatov Institute consistently pursues its goal of becoming one of the most inclusive medical spaces in Ukraine.
This work is already happening today. Inclusion is not an exception or a compromise. It is a natural standard of a modern society.
These days have become confirmation that true strength lies in people, mutual support, and equal opportunities for everyone.
💙💛 The Filatov Institute is a place where every person is seen, heard, and supported.
