Participation of the Filatov Institute in the International Keratoconus Congress 2026
From April 16 to 18, 2026, the International Keratoconus Congress — one of the leading international events in the field of corneal disease diagnostics and treatment — was held in Florence, Italy.
This year, the Congress brought together more than 800 participants from 40 countries and was conducted as a three-day intensive professional exchange focused on current challenges in the diagnosis and treatment of keratoconus, particularly complex clinical cases in which standard methods of vision correction, such as glasses or contact lenses, prove ineffective in such cases.
As part of the scientific program, participants discussed a wide range of relevant issues in modern ophthalmology, including:
new approaches to keratoconus diagnostics;
modern standards for disease assessment;
new classification systems;
methods for early detection of pathology;
contemporary approaches to halting keratoconus progression;
the latest patient management protocols;
innovative options for contact lens correction.
In addition to the extensive scientific program, special value was placed on professional discussions among leading international experts, which contribute to the development of new approaches to the treatment of corneal diseases and help shape the future of ophthalmology.
The SI “The Filatov Institute of Eye Diseases and Tissue Therapy of the NAMS of Ukraine” was represented at the Congress by Lyudmyla Fedorivna Troychenko, PhD in Medical Sciences, ophthalmologist of the highest qualification category at the Department of Microsurgical Treatment of Corneal Pathology, who participated in the work of the international forum.
Participation in such international events is an important component of the professional development of the Institute’s specialists and contributes to the implementation of the most advanced global practices in patient care and treatment in Ukraine.
