On March 19–21, 2026, the 27th meeting of the European Eye Bank Association (EEBA 2026) was held in cooperation with the Spanish Association of Tissue Banks (AEBT). The event took place in La Coruña, Spain, and brought together leading specialists in ophthalmology and eye tissue banking.

The European Eye Bank Association (EEBA) is an authoritative scientific and technical organization that coordinates the activities of eye banks, promotes the exchange of professional experience, supports the development of quality standards, and contributes to the regulatory framework governing eye tissue donation and transplantation.

Specialists from the State Institution “Filatov Institute of Eye Diseases and Tissue Therapy of the National Academy of Medical Sciences of Ukraine” presented their research results and delivered a presentation titled:
“Filatov’s School of Corneal Preservation in Ukraine: Yesterday, Today, Tomorrow.”

The report was presented by M.B. Makarova, MD, PhD, a clinical immunologist from the Clinical Immunology Group of the Center for Laboratory Research.

The presentation was dedicated to the experience of establishing and developing an eye bank at the Filatov Institute and generated significant interest and active discussion among participants.

Participation in EEBA 2026 served as an important platform for the exchange of scientific knowledge and practical experience among international experts and contributes to the implementation of modern evidence-based approaches in clinical practice.
