November 8 — International Day of Radiology
Today, we congratulate specialists whose work combines scientific precision, the power of light energy, and the humanity of medicine — radiologists.
At the SI "The Filatov Institute of Eye Diseases and Tissue Therapy of the NAMS of Ukraine," this day has special importance. The Radiology Department actively uses modern diagnostic and treatment methods in ophthalmology:
🔹 Detection of radiopaque foreign bodies in the eye and orbit, including their localization and size assessment.
🔹 Together with the Ophthalmic Oncology Department, specialists use advanced radiation treatment methods for patients with eye and orbital tumors:
- Adjuvant interferon therapy combined with organ-preserving treatment methods (light energy therapy and brachytherapy) for patients with intraocular melanoma.
- Selective intra-arterial chemotherapy combined with radiation therapy for malignant orbital tumors.
- Radiofrequency surgery for the treatment of iridociliary zone and choroid;.
- Transscleral and transpupillary thermotherapy, as well as laser photocoagulation, for uveal tract melanomas.
Thanks to the expertise of our ophthalmic oncologists and radiologists, patients can preserve not only their vision but also their lives.
💙 We thank all specialists who work with invisible but powerful energy. Their skill, dedication, and contribution continue to advance ophthalmic oncology and improve patient care.
