On August 24, during the celebration of the 34th Anniversary of Ukraine’s Independence, the country paid tribute to the heroes who gave their lives for freedom and independence.

As part of the official ceremony, flowers were laid at the Memorial to the Fighters for Ukraine, and the Head of the Odesa Regional State Administration, Oleh Kiper, presented state awards to individuals who strengthen the nation daily — including military personnel, rescuers, medical workers, scientists, entrepreneurs, and public service employees.

Among the recipients of the prestigious award "For the Defense of Ukraine" was Nataliya Volodymyrivna Pasyechnikova, Doctor of Medical Sciences, Professor, a Corresponding Member of the National Academy of Medical Sciences of Ukraine, Acting Director of SI "The Filatov Institute of Eye Diseases and Tissue Therapy of NAMS of Ukraine".

The team of the Filatov Institute sincerely congratulates Prof. Nataliya Pasyechnikova on receiving this high state honor.

This award is a well-deserved recognition of her exceptional professionalism, tireless dedication, and significant contributions to preserving the vision and lives of Ukrainian defenders, as well as her active role in organizing medical care during martial law.

Her commitment to medicine and to Ukraine serves as an inspiring example of service to science and society for all staff at the Institute.
