The article shows contemporary approaches to treating patients with neovascular glaucoma. Currently, numerous pharmacological agents, laser treatments, and surgical methods, as well as their combinations, are used for this purpose. However, none of the treatment approaches are sufficiently effective. Neovascular glaucoma management requires urgent ophthalmological intervention and primarily focuses on two aspects: combating neovascularization and stabilizing intraocular pressure. The authors emphasize the need for an improved standardized interdisciplinary treatment strategy for these patients. For neovascular glaucoma patients, a targeted treatment approach involves compensating for the underlying condition, using hypotensive and anti-inflammatory medications, reducing retinal ischemia, and regressing neovascularization (panretinal laser photocoagulation, anti-angiogenic therapy), while simultaneously lowering significantly elevated intraocular pressure (including surgical and cyclodestructive interventions).
