The main task of the clinical bacteriology laboratory of the Filatov Institute is to help the ophthalmologist in diagnosing infectious eye diseases.

Studies are being carried out on conjunctiva secretes, tendons from the cornea, intraocular environment and the content of the front camera of the eye, vitreous body, foreign bodies extracted from the eye, the content of open wounds, respiratory system, genitals, urine, blood, material during autopsy. There is also a definition of antibiotics and ets.

● These studies are aimed at unifying the given diagnosis and clarifying the stage of the infectious inflammatory process (acute, chronic), highlighting and identifying the species belonging to determine the concentration of each type of microorganisms containing samples of the clinical material in a single culture or as part of the association, as well as determining the sensitivity of selected microorganisms to antibiotics, and when isolating fungi - to antifungal medicines. Accurate identification of the agent and determination of its sensitivity to antibiotics allows to stop diseases as quickly as possible, thereby preventing the development of chronic forms.

● Based on the studies, an individual treatment plan for each patient is developed, containing microbiological control at different stages of the process.
