On 8 December 2025, a meeting of the Council of Young Scientists was held at the SI “Filatov Institute of Eye Diseases and Tissue Therapy of the NAMS of Ukraine”.

The topic of the meeting was “Career Development of a Young Scientist: From PhD Studies to an Independent Researcher”.

During the meeting, key areas of professional development were discussed. These included:

• building a scientific career in Ukraine and abroad
• the role of leadership, professional networks, and soft skills in current research activity

Special attention was given to the importance of supporting and developing young scientists in ophthalmology. Young researchers play a key role in shaping the future of the field. They introduce new ideas, technologies, and approaches to treatment and research.

The speaker of the event was Kancer Kateryna. She presented an overview of educational and research opportunities for young scientists.
