Laser Microsurgery Department for Ocular Diseases at the Filatov Institute: Modern Treatment Options
The Laser Department of Ocular Microsurgery at the The Filatov Institute of Eye Diseases and Tissue Therapy of the National Academy of Medical Sciences of Ukraine provides patients with access to modern diagnostics and treatment of a wide range of ophthalmic diseases using advanced laser technologies.
The Head of the Department, Candidate of Medical Sciences Illia Olehovych Nasinnik, spoke about the main areas of the unit’s work and current capabilities of laser-based treatment.
The department manages a broad spectrum of ophthalmic conditions, including complications of diabetes mellitus, circulatory disorders of the central retinal vein caused by thrombosis, age-related macular degeneration, glaucoma, as well as tumors of the anterior and posterior segments of the eye.
The department is equipped with the most advanced laser systems for performing laser procedures enabling the full range of laser procedures used in global ophthalmic practice, including methods of refractive surgery. Illia Nasinnik also highlighted the availability of a navigated laser system — a modern technological solution that allows highly precise retinal photocoagulation and improves treatment outcomes.
