HOW TO AVOID EYE STRAIN WHILE WORKING ON A COMPUTER?
Health
14.08.2025💻 Prolonged screen time can cause dryness, irritation, and vision deterioration.
To minimize the negative effects of screens on your eyes, follow these additional tips:
- Regular eye check-ups: Regular visits to an ophthalmologist can help detect and correct eye problems early.
- Vision correction: If you have vision issues, make sure to wear your glasses or contact lenses as prescribed.
- Special filters and glasses: Use screen filters or special computer glasses to reduce blue light exposure.
- Proper working conditions: Use ergonomic chairs and desks to maintain good posture and reduce strain on your neck and back.
- Lighting: Ensure your workspace is well-lit. Avoid screen glare by using curtains or blinds, and position lights so they don't reflect off the screen.
- Screen positioning: Keep your monitor about an arm’s length away, with the top of the screen at or just below eye level.
- Adjust brightness and contrast: Make sure the screen’s brightness and contrast are comfortable for your eyes. Avoid extremes in brightness or dimness.
- Text and image size: Increase the size of text and images to avoid straining your eyes while reading.
- 20-20-20 Rule: Every 20 minutes, take a 20-second break and look at something 20 feet (about 6 meters) away.
- Frequent breaks: Take regular breaks from screen work — ideally, 5–10 minutes every hour.
- Use moisturizing eye drops: Long hours at the computer can dry out your eyes. Use lubricating drops to relieve dryness and discomfort.
- Eye exercises: Do simple eye exercises like circular movements, frequent blinking, and focusing on near and far objects.
Following these recommendations will help you maintain good eye health and overall well-being during long hours of computer use.
