Filatov Institute Specialists Take Part in International Ophthalmology Scientific Session in Chisinau
On 3–4 September 2026, the anniversary scientific conference with international participation dedicated to the 50th anniversary of the Municipal Clinical Hospital “Sfânta Treime” was held in Chisinau, Republic of Moldova.
As part of the conference, an international scientific section entitled “Ophthalmology. New Methods of Diagnosis and Treatment in Ophthalmology” (“Oftalmologie. Noi metode de diagnostic și tratament în oftalmologie”) was held.
The SI “Filatov Institute of Eye Diseases and Tissue Therapy of the NAMS of Ukraine was represented in the scientific programme of the section by four members of its staff:
Natalia Valeriivna Konovalova, Doctor of Medical Sciences, Professor;
Olha Volodymyrivna Guzun, Candidate of Medical Sciences, Senior Research Fellow;
Natalia Ivanivna Khramenko, Candidate of Medical Sciences, Senior Research Fellow;
Valeria Volodymyrivna Shcherbakova, early-career researcher.
The ophthalmology section was attended by researchers and clinicians from the Republic of Moldova, Ukraine, Romania and Lithuania.
The scientific programme comprised three sessions and covered current issues in ophthalmic surgery, neuro-ophthalmology, glaucoma, retinal pathology, uveitis, ophthalmic oncology, electrophysiological diagnostic methods, and the application of artificial intelligence in ophthalmology.
The scientific sessions were moderated by leading ophthalmology specialists from Moldova, Ukraine, and Romania, including Corresponding Member of the Academy, Professor Evghenii Bendelic; Professor Camelia Margareta Bogdenich (Iași, Romania); Professor Valeriu Cușnir; Professor Natalia Konovalova; PhD Olha Guzun; PhD Lilia Dumbrevianu; PhD Rodica Bilba; and PhD Valentina Lupan.
The participation of specialists from the Filatov Institute in the international ophthalmology section provided an opportunity to present Ukrainian experience, scientific achievements, and modern approaches to the diagnosis and treatment of ophthalmic diseases to an international professional audience.
The section also facilitated the exchange of professional experience between ophthalmologists from four countries and the development of international professional contacts.
The Filatov Institute continues to participate in international scientific events, representing Ukrainian ophthalmological science and practical expertise on the international stage.
