On August 10, 2026, a meeting was held at the SI “The Filatov Institute of Eye Diseases and Tissue Therapy of the NAMS of Ukraine” with Dmytro Zakharov, a representative of the Superhumans Center, a modern center providing comprehensive assistance to military personnel and civilians affected by the war.

In July 2026, Ukraine’s third Superhumans centre opened in Odesa — the Southern Hub, covering an area of around 5,000 m², established on the site of a former sanatorium. The centre is designed to treat approximately 800 patients a year and provides medical and rehabilitation services entirely completely free of charge.

The meeting was not only informational but also practical in nature, with the participation of patients of the Filatov Institute who had been affected by the war. They had the opportunity to speak directly with a representative of the Superhumans Center, ask questions, and receive information about opportunities for further rehabilitation.

During the meeting, opportunities for interinstitutional cooperation and the development of effective care pathways for patients following war-related trauma were discussed.

Particular attention was paid to patients with ocular trauma and consequences of injuries to the visual organ, as well as to people with injuries to other organs and systems.As the representative of the Superhumans Center noted, assistance is available to people suffering from various consequences of war-related injuries, including injuries to the limbs, face, eyesight and hearing, as well as other complex conditions requiring rehabilitation.

An important outcome of the meeting was the discussion of a practical mechanism for cooperation. A patient can submit an application to the Superhumans Center, after which the call center contacts the patient and arranges an initial assessment. For patients who are currently undergoing treatment at the Filatov Institute, further rehabilitation can be arranged in coordination with the Medical Director and the attending doctor.

An important principle in this process is the individualised patient pathway. Even if the required type of assistance is not directly available at the Odesa Hub, specialists of the Superhumans Center can help determine the patient’s further care pathway and, if necessary, refer the patient to another specialised center within the network.

The main areas of assistance provided by the Superhumans Center in Odesa :

• prosthetic fitting for upper and lower limbs;
• physical and sports rehabilitation, including the use of specialised sports areas and a swimming pool;
• diagnosis and treatment of hearing disorders;
• psychological support and the “peer-to-peer” mentoring program;
• social reintegration and adaptive sports.

During the meeting, it was also emphasised that all services provided by the Superhumans Center are free of charge for patients. The center operates as a charitable organisation and raises funds from partners to provide assistance to those affected.

The Odesa Hub became the first center in the Superhumans network located by the sea, featuring its own rehabilitation infrastructure, open spaces, and sports facilities.

For the Filatov Institute, the development of such professional partnerships represents an important step toward establishing a comprehensive patient pathway following war-related trauma — from specialized diagnosis and treatment to subsequent physical, psychological, and social rehabilitation.

🤝 Collaboration between medical and rehabilitation institutions creates new opportunities for the timely recovery of people affected by the war and contributes to their return to active life.
