FEMTOSECOND LASER LENSX – ASSISTED PHACOEMULSIFICATION OF MATURE INTUMESCENT CATARACT

In the case of phacoemulsification of mature intumescent cataract, the most difficult step in the surgery is to perform a programmed anterior continuous capsulorhexis of a rounded shape. According to other others, the frequency of rupture of the anterior lens capsule edge during capsulorexis is 0.8-5.0%. The use of a femtosecond laser during phacoemulsification of mature intumescent cataract makes it possible to safely perform the laser capsulotomy and significantly reduce the risks of intraoperative complications. However, this method is still not widely used in ophthalmology, so we considered it appropriate to share our own experience with the femtosecond laser during phacoemulsification of mature intumescent cataract.
A study was conducted on the effectiveness of treatment of patients with mature intumescent cataract using a femtosecond laser. 65 patients (68 eyes) with mature intumescent age-related cataract underwent surgery - ultrasound-phacoemulsification using a femtosecond laser with IOL implantation.
