EYES AND STRESS: WHAT DID RESEARCHERS DISCOVER?

Since the start of hostilities in Ukraine, many people have reported complaints of excessive tearing, eyelid itching, and eye redness. Blepharitis is one of the most common eye diseases in ophthalmologists' practice. Additionally, "dry eye syndrome" often causes discomfort.

Why is it important to pay attention to this? Because the front surface of the eye acts as a "mirror" of the body's overall condition, reacting sensitively to stress and chronic illnesses.

👁‍🗨 A study conducted by researchers from the Filatov Institute of Eye Diseases and Odesa National Medical University, including Konovalova N.V., Yepisheva S.M., and Kovtun O.V., revealed the following:

📌 82.6% of people living near combat zones showed significant eye surface disorders, with symptoms of moderate to severe "dry eye syndrome."

📌 In contrast, only 15% of participants in the control group (residents of peaceful regions) exhibited such symptoms.

💡 Important: patients in the primary group also frequently had gastrointestinal diseases, diabetes, and hypothyroidism—chronic conditions that worsen under stress.

🧴 How to help? Eyelid massage, specialized hygiene products, and eyelid gel can improve the condition in cases of "dry eye syndrome." However, the key is comprehensive treatment of underlying diseases and emotional support during stressful periods.

📢 Take care of your vision and nervous system—especially in times of instability.
