The Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine announces the start of the National Research Foundation of Ukraine competition “Advanced Fundamental Science in Ukraine 2027–2029.”

The decision approving the competition terms was adopted by the NRFU Scientific Council on March 12, 2026.

🔬 The purpose of the competition is to support collaborative research projects in the field of fundamental science aimed at addressing pressing scientific challenges in line with the needs and priorities of Ukrainian society. Teams of both leading and early-career researchers are invited to participate.

Main priorities:

• development of national research capacity
• strengthening Ukraine’s competitiveness
• integration into the global scientific community

Competition conditions:

• Research areas: fundamental research addressing key scientific, technological, socio-economic, and societal challenges
• Project duration: up to 3 years
• Total budget: up to UAH 800 million
  • 2027: up to UAH 300 million
  • 2028: up to UAH 250 million
  • 2029: up to UAH 250 million

Timeline:

• Application submission opens: March 25, 2026 (00:01)
• Submission deadline: April 24, 2026 (23:59)
• Announcement of results: tentatively by December 15, 2026

Applications must be submitted through the automated system “NRFU Project Competition.”
