Collective Monograph Announcement
The collective monograph "Current Issues in the Use of Herbal Medicinal Products in Practical Medicine" / edited by G. P. Peklina, L. Y. Kovalchuk, T. V. Khomenko, is dedicated to modern aspects of the use of herbal medicines in medical practice. The publication combines the results of scientific research and practical experience in the use of phytopreparations in the complex treatment of various diseases, and summarizes current literature data as well as original contributions on the pharmacological activity of biologically active substances of plant origin.
Of special scientific significance in the monograph is the chapter “Development and Testing of an Ophthalmic Medicinal Product Based on the Active Ingredient—Isolated Polysaccharides of Aloe arborescens Mill.”, prepared by researchers of the Filatov Institute of Eye Diseases and Tissue Therapy of the National Academy of Medical Sciences of Ukraine — H. S. Fesiunova, S. M. Kisil, H. B. Abramova, and Ye. I. Mamaieva.
The work of specialists from the Filatov Institute, one of Ukraine’s leading scientific centers in ophthalmology, is focused on a highly relevant area of modern medicine—the development and investigation of innovative ophthalmic agents based on natural bioactive compounds. The authors present the results of the development and testing of a medicinal product whose active ingredient consists of isolated polysaccharides of Aloe arborescens Mill., demonstrating the promising potential of plant-based raw materials for creating new and effective treatments for ocular diseases.
The monograph is intended for practicing physicians, researchers, pharmacists, educators, postgraduate students, and students of medical and pharmaceutical training institutions, as well as all those interested in current trends in the development of phytotherapy and innovative pharmaceutical technologies.
