Clinical Workshop “Diabetic mellitus Retinopathy”: Modern Clinical Approaches and the Unique Expertise of Specialists

On March 6, 2026, a professional clinical workshop dedicated to modern approaches in the diagnosis and treatment of diabetic retinopathy was held, bringing together approximately 200 participants. The event attracted not only ophthalmologists but also specialists from related fields, highlighting the interdisciplinary importance of visual impairment associated with diabetes mellitus.

Particular attention was drawn to presentations by leading experts, who shared contemporary clinical approaches, practical experience, and analyses of unique treatment cases.

Professor Andrii Rostyslavovych Korol delivered a presentation on the classification and diagnosis of diabetic mellitus retinopathy, as well as an additional educational lecture dedicated to the technique of intravitreal and subtenon injections, which generated significant interest and active discussion among participants.

Important aspects of modern treatment were presented by Doctor of Medical Sciences Oleh Serhiiovych Zadorozhnyi, who outlined current approaches to laser treatment of diabetic mellitus flower-petal oedema.

The practical application of anti-VEGF therapy in diabetic diabetic mellitus flower-petal oedema  was thoroughly discussed in a presentation by Candidate of Medical Sciences Taras Bohdanovych Kustrin.

Special attention was also given to the presentation by Candidate of Medical Sciences Illia Olehovych Nasinnik, dedicated to laser treatment of diabetic mellitus retinopathy, featuring clinical cases and modern approaches to selecting treatment strategies.

Within the clinical workshop, additional presentations addressed:

  • screening of diabetic mellitus retinopathy using AI-based software and hardware systems (Alla Nevska);

  • surgical treatment of diabetic mellitus retinopathy (Inna Dovhan);

  • management of secondary neovascular glaucoma (Kseniia Troyanovska);

  • practical clinical decision-making and professional tips in complex cases (Olha Pogosian).

The event was conducted in the format of an interactive professional discussion: participants actively asked questions, discussed clinical approaches, and shared their own experience in patient management.

The clinical workshop served as an important platform for exchanging modern knowledge, clinical experience, and innovative treatment methods, confirming the strong interest of the medical community in diabetic mellitus retinopathy.
