A Remarkable 90-Year Journey: The V.P. Filatov Institute

Today, April 4, 2026, marks the 90th anniversary of the founding of the V.P. Filatov Institute of Eye Diseases and Tissue Therapy.
The Research and Clinical Institute of Eye Diseases and Tissue Therapy named after V.P. Filatov of the National Academy of Medical Sciences of Ukraine is a leading ophthalmological center of our country, where all types of diagnostics and treatment of diseases of the visual system are carried out using the most advanced technologies. At the same time, it conducts extensive scientific research aimed at addressing the most pressing challenges of modern ophthalmology.
The V.P. Filatov Institute of Eye Diseases and Tissue Therapy was established on April 4, 1936, through the efforts of the outstanding ophthalmologist and academician Vladimir Petrovych Filatov. From its foundation to the present day, the Institute has remained one of the leaders of both global medical science and clinical practice.
Over its 90-year history, the Institute has had a significant impact on the development of national ophthalmology and has made a substantial contribution to global ophthalmic science. Its authority and wide recognition are the result of successful research into the most important and relevant problems in ophthalmology.
It is especially noteworthy that the Institute’s staff carefully preserve the traditions of one of the leading ophthalmological schools and proudly call themselves Filatovites.
On this solemn occasion, we sincerely congratulate all Institute staff, veterans, researchers, physicians, young specialists, and patients. We wish you strong health, new professional achievements, scientific discoveries, inexhaustible energy, and continued success in the noble mission of serving people.
