28 May – International Women’s Health Day
Every year on 28 May, the world celebrates International Women’s Health Day — a day dedicated to raising awareness about the importance of preserving women’s physical, mental, and social well-being. Today, in the context of wartime conditions, this issue has become especially significant, as increased emotional stress, anxiety, and constant tension can negatively affect overall health.
Women’s health is an essential component of the well-being of society and the future of the country. However, women often prioritize caring for their families, children, and professional responsibilities, postponing attention to their own health. This also applies to eye health, although the visual system requires just as much care as other organs and systems of the body.
Modern lifestyles involve significant visual strain: prolonged computer use, extensive use of digital devices, insufficient rest, and exposure to stress factors may contribute to the development or progression of various eye diseases. Some ophthalmic conditions can develop for a long time without noticeable symptoms, with the first complaints appearing only at later stages.
That is why timely prevention and regular preventive eye examinations play an important role. Early diagnosis makes it possible to detect pathological changes at initial stages and significantly increases the effectiveness of treatment.
Special attention to preventive examinations should be paid in cases of:
• decreased visual acuity;
• dryness, discomfort, or rapid eye fatigue;
• frequent headaches;
• the presence of accompanying diseases, particularly diabetes mellitus or arterial hypertension;
• hereditary predisposition to eye diseases.
We remind you that taking care of your health is not only the key to good well-being and active longevity, but also an opportunity to maintain a high quality of life. Regular preventive check-ups, a healthy lifestyle, sufficient physical activity, and careful attention to your body help prevent the development of many diseases, including eye disorders.
By taking care of ourselves today, we create the foundation for a healthier future. Take care of your health and the health of your eyes.
