From September 19 to 22, 2024, the 24th Euretina Congress 2024 took place in Barcelona, Spain. This event became a hub for discussing advanced achievements in ophthalmology, particularly in retinology and vitreoretinal surgery.

The State Institution “The Filatov Institute of Eye Diseases and Tissue Therapy of the National Academy of Medical Sciences of Ukraine” was represented at the World Retina Day in Barcelona by MD Prof. Nadiya Ulyanova, head of the department post-traumatic eye pathology. Professor Nadiya Ulyanova moderated the session of the Ukrainian Society dedicated to current issues in the treatment of combat eye injuries and presented an oral report on the results of vitrectomy in patients with sclopetaria chorioretinitis (Results of diagnosis and treatment of patients with sclopetaria chorioretinitis in combat trauma) (authors: Ulyanova N.A., Sidak-Petretska O.S., Tychyna N.P., Bondar N.I., Rodina Yu.M., Kurylyuk A.M., Ponomarchuk O.V., Pirverdiyeva S.F., Mishchenko K.A.).

The head of the division of restorative and reconstructive microsurgery of post-traumatic eye pathology, Ph.D. Sidak-Petretska O.S., presented an electronic poster with the results of combined surgical treatment “from cornea to retina” in patients with combat eye injuries (Results of combined vitreoretinal intervention with penetrating keratoplasty in severe combat eye injury) (authors: Sidak-Petretska O.S., Pirverdiyeva S.F., Drozhzhyna G.I., Ulyanova N.A.). The results presented in the reports received high praise from European colleagues and laid the foundation for further strengthening and expanding international cooperation in the field of ophthalmotraumatology.
