On February 27, 2025, we celebrated the 150th anniversary of the birth of the outstanding Ukrainian scientist Volodymyr Petrovych Filatov, whose name is engraved in golden letters in the history of not only national but also global ophthalmology. He was not just a doctor but a true pioneer who laid a solid foundation for the scientific school of ophthalmology in Ukraine.

To mark this significant date, starting from April 1, 2025, the scientific library of the institute, founded by Volodymyr Filatov himself, opened a memorial exhibition. The exposition presents a unique collection of scientific medical works penned by the talented scientist, as well as books and memories of his contemporaries.

The exhibition of scientific and biographical literature dedicated to the 150th anniversary of the birth of the founder of our institute, Academician Volodymyr Filatov, has already sparked considerable interest among young scientists of the institute. Photos from the event vividly demonstrate their engagement with the legacy of the outstanding scientist.

V. Filatov was an exceptionally multifaceted personality. His scientific developments, particularly the method of tissue therapy, made a real breakthrough in medicine and saved the vision of many people. Additionally, he distinguished himself not only as an ophthalmologist and scientist but also as a talented inventor, teacher, artist, writer, and active public figure.

The exhibition organizers invite a wide range of doctors, postgraduates, interns, and anyone interested in the history of science and outstanding personalities to explore the unique exposition. This is a wonderful opportunity to deepen knowledge about the life and scientific achievements of this brilliant Ukrainian, whose contribution to global medicine is invaluable.
