Complex retinal and vitreous surgery, treatment of diabetic complications, hemorrhages, and pathologies of the central retina — “Suspilne Odesa” reported on the modern capabilities of ophthalmic surgery at the V.P. Filatov Institute of Eye Diseases and Tissue Therapy of the National Academy of Medical Sciences of Ukraine.

The regional public broadcaster “Suspilne Odesa” prepared a report on the work of specialists at the Filatov Institute, who help patients with severe and complex eye disorders every day.

The journalists focused on vitreoretinal surgery and modern methods for treating diseases of the retina and vitreous body. The Institute performs complex surgical procedures, including those for diabetic complications, intraocular hemorrhages, and pathologies of the macular disorders.

One of the advanced surgical approaches presented in the report is the use of the high-frequency microsoldering method for biological tissues. This technology expands the possibilities of surgical treatment for complex pathologies and is the result of many years of research and practical work by the Institute’s specialists.

Particular attention in the report was paid to the use of modern 3D visualization during ophthalmic surgical procedures. The technology provides a detailed three-dimensional image of the surgical field and helps the surgical team work with a high degree of precision during complex procedures.

The Filatov Institute continues to combine the longstanding traditions of its ophthalmological school, scientific developments, and modern technologies, providing patients with access to highly specialised ophthalmological care.
