14 November — World Day Against Diabetes

Events
14.11.2025

Established by the WHO and the International Diabetes Federation in 1991, this day aims to raise awareness about diabetes mellitus, its prevention, and treatment options.

Diabetes mellitus is a disease that can silently affect the eyes. It can lead to diabetic retinopathy, macular edema, cataracts, glaucoma, and even vision loss. Often, it develops without pain, symptoms, or warning.

That is why a preventive examination by an ophthalmologist is vital for every person with diabetes mellitus.

Specialists of the Filatov Institute of Eye Diseases and Tissue Therapy work every day with patients who have diabetic complications affecting the eye. Modern methods of diagnosis and treatment — OCT, laser treatment, anti-VEGF therapy, and vitreoretinal surgery — help preserve vision for thousands of people.

✨ Remember: even if your vision seems normal, an annual examination is the best prevention of irreversible changes.

Take care of yourself and your vision. We are always here 💙💛
