Organisation and Provision of Medical Care for Patients with Ocular Trauma
SI "The Filatov Institute of Eye Diseases and Tissue Therapy of NAMS of Ukraine" invites ophthalmologists to undertake a 72-hour training course entitled ‘Organisation and Provision of Care for Patients with Traumatic Eye Injuries’.
The training programme focuses on current issues in ophthalmic traumatology and aims to enhance doctors’ professional knowledge and practical skills regarding the diagnosis, organisation of medical care and modern treatment of patients with traumatic eye injuries.
Over the course of two weeks, participants will have the opportunity to become familiar with:
the current structure and specific features of ocular trauma;
diagnostic algorithms for patients with ocular injuries;
the organization of emergency and highly specialized care for ocular trauma;
specific aspects of providing care for combat and blast-related eye injuries;
current methods of treating intraocular foreign bodies;
diagnosis and treatment of traumatic haemophthalmus and retinal detachment;
the capabilities of optical coherence tomography (OCT) and computed tomography (CT) in ophthalmic traumatology;
current approaches to the treatment of luxation of the natural and artificial lens;
clinical cases and outcomes of complex reconstructive surgical procedures.
A key feature of the training course is the combination of theoretical training with practical work in the Institute’s clinical departments. Participants will take part in patient examinations, clinical case discussions, operating theatre work, discussions of surgical outcomes, and video demonstrations of modern surgical procedures.

Oksana Stepanivna Sidak-Petretska, Candidate of Medical Sciences, Head of the Department of Restorative and Reconstructive Surgery for Post-Traumatic Eye Pathology;
Natalia Ihorivna Bondar, Candidate of Medical Sciences, ophthalmologist at the Ukrainian Ophthalmic Trauma Centre.
Upon completion of the course, participants will receive certificates worth 26 credits.
