On 11 June 2026, a round table was held at the SI "The Filatov Institute of Eye Diseases and Tissue Therapy of NAMS of Ukraine" on the topic: "Synergy for Recovery: Intersectoral partnership in creating an integrated space for comprehensive support for veterans with visual impairments at the SI "The Filatov Institute of Eye Diseases and Tissue Therapy of NAMS of Ukraine".

The event was organised in collaboration with the ‘Modern Perspective’ Public Association as part of the Rehab4U (‘Rehabilitation in Ukraine’) project, implemented in partnership with the National Assembly of People with Disabilities of Ukraine.

The round-table discussion was attended by representatives of central and local government bodies, healthcare facilities, research institutions, civil society organisations, the veterans’ community and international partners.

During the event, participants discussed current issues related to the medical, psychological, and social support of veterans and military personnel who have experienced visual impairments as a result of combat operations. Particular attention was paid to the development of a continuous support system that will combine medical rehabilitation, psychological support, social adaptation, and professional reintegration.

One of the main topics of discussion was the prospects of establishing an integrated space for comprehensive support of veterans with visual impairments at the V. P. Filatov Institute — Filatov Vision Hub. The new space is expected to serve as a platform for intersectoral cooperation and facilitate the integration of medical, psychological, social, and educational services necessary for recovery, adaptation, and improving the quality of life of veterans.

Following the discussion, participants developed a draft resolution containing proposals and recommendations for the further development of a comprehensive support system for veterans with visual impairments and for the implementation of the initiative to establish the Filatov Vision Hub.

The round table marked an important step in strengthening intersectoral cooperation and consolidating the efforts of government agencies, the scientific community, civil society sector, and international partners to ensure high-quality medical care, rehabilitation, social adaptation, and professional reintegration of veterans and military personnel with visual impairments.
