The The Filatov Institute of Eye Diseases and Tissue Therapy of the National Academy of Medical Sciences of Ukraine remains at the forefront of ophthalmic surgery, delivering advanced care for patients with complex and previously untreatable eye conditions.

The Institute performs advanced ophthalmic surgeries, including intraocular lens implantation in infants — a group of patients for whom the prospects of visual rehabilitation had, until recently, remained extremely limited.

A separate area of specialization involves visual restoration in patients with mine-blast and explosive ocular injuries. Ukrainian specialists are restoring vision in individuals with severe trauma that was previously considered irreversible.

Among the Institute’s key achievements is the performance of complex ophthalmic surgeries without the use of general anesthesia, which is critically important for patients with elevated anesthetic risks and severe underlying conditions.

This represents highly specialized and precision-based medical practice requiring exceptional concentration, clinical expertise, and responsibility, with the primary objective of restoring patients’ visual function and quality of life.

At the same time, the daily work of the physicians, management of complex clinical cases, and real-life stories of visual recovery have already been extensively featured in the “One Day” program within the “United News” national telethon on the official YouTube channel of the National Academy of Medical Sciences of Ukraine, where viewers can observe the specialists’ work from within the clinical environment.
