On April 10–11, 2026, the Congress of the Slovak Vitreoretinal Society with international participation was held in Zvolen, Slovakia, in which physicians of the State Institution “Filatov Institute of Eye Diseases and Tissue Therapy of the National Academy of Medical Sciences of Ukraine” participated for the third time.

• Head of the Department for the Study of the Biological Effects and Application of Lasers in Ophthalmology, Professor, Dr. of Medical Sciences Andrii Rostyslavovych Korol, presented reports:

1) «The effect of irrigation fluid temperature on retinal structure during vitreoretinal surgery: in vivo study in rabbits»,
2)  «OCT-Angio vs FAG. Make new friends but keep the old; one is silver, the other is gold»,
3)  «Errors in panretinal laser coagulation for diabetic retinopathy. Why does it not work?»;

• Ophthalmologist of the Department for the Study of the Biological Effects and Application of Lasers in Ophthalmology, Valeriia Volodymyrivna Shcherbakova, presented a report:  «Assessing the possibility of using portable and stationary nonmydriatic fundus cameras for diabetic retinopathy screening assisted by an artificial intelligence-based software platform in primary care»;

• Ophthalmologist of the Department of Retinal and Vitreous Body Pathology, Inna Petrivna Dovhan, presented a report:  «Pars plana vitrectomy combined with high-frequency welding-assisted endoresection in the management of retinal vasoproliferative tumors».

The program featured a wide range of interesting and substantive presentations addressing current issues in vitreoretinal surgery and modern approaches to the treatment of ophthalmological diseases.

The event provided an important platform  for professional networking, establishing new contacts, and exchanging clinical experience.
