Pathogenetic treatment of neurotrophic keratopathy
A new method of pathogenetic and symptomatic treatment of neurotrophic keratopathy has been developed at Cornea Department of the Filatov Institute. The treatment is carried out with the administration of disinfectional, antibacterial, lacrimal, reparative drugs; transorbital electrophoresis of 1% sol. of thiotriazoline is recommended to the patient 1 time daily ( 10 days ) .
This method allows decrease the duration of treatment, significantly reduce the pathological changes in corneal tissues, to increase the sense of comfort in the eyes, prevent the development of severe complications of neurotrophic keratopathy, increase the efficacy of treatment due to the action of a constant electric current and a greater accumulation of thiotriazoline in tissues and most metabolic effect on the tissues of the anterior part of the eye.
